The plumbing system in your Suffolk County home is one of the most important components. Like most homeowners, you probably don’t pay much attention to your plumbing system, although you rely on it daily for bathing, flushing toilets, and washing dishes. That is, until a problem arises. Getting in touch with a drainage cleaning company at the first sign of trouble will help you avoid a major disaster and costly repairs. But what signs should you be on the lookout for? If you notice any of the following, you’re going to want to schedule an appointment with a Ridge, NY sewer cleaning professional as soon as possible.
If you always feel as if you are standing in water when you shower, or your sink fills up with sudsy, scummy water when you wash dishes, something is definitely wrong. A clog could be as simple as a clump, or it could be more serious. In the event that you have plunged the drain and have used a commercial drain cleaning product without success, you’ll need to call a sewer cleaning company in Ridge, NY. A reputable drainage cleaning professional will identify and correct the source of the issue and will have your drains flowing smoothly in no time.
Strange Sounds
You may notice strange gurgling sounds coming from the drains (sinks, tubs, showers, toilets, washing machines, etc.) in your Suffolk County home. A clog may be developing somewhere in your plumbing system if those strange sounds persist. Hair, grease, soap scum, grease, and food particles can accumulate within pipes when flushed down the drain, and as the buildup increases, a clog will eventually occur. An air bubble may form as water attempts to move past the clog, causing the sound of gurgling. Any odd noise should be reported to a sewer cleaning company in Ridge, NY as soon as possible. You will be assessed by a licensed drainage cleaning technician, who will remove any blockages in your system.
Nothing is more off-putting than foul odors. If you notice the scent of stale, musty water or decaying matter coming from your drains, or more alarmingly, the putrid smell of raw sewage coming from your drains or permeating your entire Suffolk County property, something is definitely wrong with your plumbing system. There may be a clog in a drain or a pipe, or sewage may be on the verge of backing up. Whatever the case may be, a professional Ridge, NY sewer cleaning professional will alleviate the problem and ensure that your system is functioning properly, preventing a potentially destructive and toxic overflow.
Overflowing Toilets and Drains
The drains and toilets will occasionally become clogged. In these situations, a plunger or a drain cleaner can usually resolve the issue if excessive toilet paper or large food particles are flushed, causing clogs. It’s normal to have occasional blockages, but regular clogging – especially if it causes overflowing – isn’t. You definitely need to fix your toilets and drains if they clog up easily or start backing up. Large obstructions, like feminine hygiene products, cotton swabs, large wads of toilet paper, or even a child’s toy or tree root intrusions could be the cause. Whatever the case, calling in a Ridge, NY sewer cleaning professional is a must. A licensed and experienced technician will be able to identify and eliminate the clog, restore the proper functioning of your drains, and prevent further and more severe problems.
You should contact a sewer cleaning company as soon as possible if several sinks, showers, tubs, toilets, or even your washing machine are clogging up. Clogs may occur in main sewer lines or main drainage lines. If that’s the case, it’s more than just a nuisance; it’s a major problem. These lines can be blocked, causing larger, more hazardous problems and more costly repairs. A drainage cleaning professional will be able to detect and properly correct the issue, restoring the function of your drains and preventing more serious issues from occurring.

Ridge is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 13,336 at the 2010 census.
In 1693, William “Tangier” Smith, who owned a homestead in Setauket, was allowed to purchase a large tract of land on the South Shore of Long Island in recognition of his being mayor of Tangier in Africa. The land, called Manor St. George, stretched from the Carmans River (then called the Connecticut River) in the west to the edge of the town of Southampton in the east, with a northern border around present-day New York State Route 25, as much as 81,000 acres (330 km2) of land. He made his manor seat on the South Shore in present-day Mastic, and the northern part, now the south side of Ridge, was called “The Swamp” or “Longswamp”. A house wasn’t built at Longswamp until after the American Revolution. In 1817, William Sydney Smith inhabited the house and changed the name to Longwood.
In 1955, what then remained of William Smith’s original manor was primarily located in Ridge and was surrounded by the world growing up around it, in the form of the Brookhaven National Laboratory and the surrounding areas becoming increasingly populated. Longwood’s 750 acres (300 ha) fell into the hands of Elbert Clayton Smith, who immediately moved his family from California to live there. He seems to have been very generous to his new community; his donations included 51 acres (21 ha) to the school board for the construction of Longwood High School and 6 acres (2.4 ha) to Middle Island Presbyterian Church. In 1967, Elbert Smith died, and the Longwood Estate was carved into housing developments and nearly destroyed until enough noise was made about preservation to have the house and 35 acres (14 ha) of land given to the Town of Brookhaven in 1974. The Smith Estate was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.
In 1738, northern Ridge was settled by widower Samuel Randall of North Stonington, Connecticut; his only son Stephen Randall and his descendants farmed a 4,000-acre (1,600 ha) plot of ground that Samuel had always referred to as “the Ridge” based on the geographical terrain. First called “Randallville”, Ridge was the name selected by its residents for postal delivery. The Randall burial plot near the William Floyd Parkway includes the grave of Lt. Stephen Randall (1736-1818), patriot of the American Revolution and a Suffolk County Militia veteran of the Battle of Long Island. Graves of Randall’s wife Elizabeth Swezey (1747-1834) and several descendants are also within the plot.
