5 Warning Signs You Need to Schedule an Appointment with a Nassau County Drainage Cleaning Company

The plumbing system in your Nassau County home is one of the most important components. Like most homeowners, you probably don’t pay much attention to your plumbing system, although you rely on it daily for bathing, flushing toilets, and washing dishes. That is, until a problem arises. Getting in touch with a drainage cleaning company at the first sign of trouble will help you avoid a major disaster and costly repairs. But what signs should you be on the lookout for? If you notice any of the following, you’re going to want to schedule an appointment with a Levittown, NY sewer cleaning professional as soon as possible.

Slow Drains

If you always feel as if you are standing in water when you shower, or your sink fills up with sudsy, scummy water when you wash dishes, something is definitely wrong. A clog could be as simple as a clump, or it could be more serious. In the event that you have plunged the drain and have used a commercial drain cleaning product without success, you’ll need to call a sewer cleaning company in Levittown, NY. A reputable drainage cleaning professional will identify and correct the source of the issue and will have your drains flowing smoothly in no time.

Strange Sounds

You may notice strange gurgling sounds coming from the drains (sinks, tubs, showers, toilets, washing machines, etc.) in your Nassau County home. A clog may be developing somewhere in your plumbing system if those strange sounds persist. Hair, grease, soap scum, grease, and food particles can accumulate within pipes when flushed down the drain, and as the buildup increases, a clog will eventually occur. An air bubble may form as water attempts to move past the clog, causing the sound of gurgling. Any odd noise should be reported to a sewer cleaning company in Levittown, NY as soon as possible. You will be assessed by a licensed drainage cleaning technician, who will remove any blockages in your system.

Foul Odors

Nothing is more off-putting than foul odors. If you notice the scent of stale, musty water or decaying matter coming from your drains, or more alarmingly, the putrid smell of raw sewage coming from your drains or permeating your entire Nassau County property, something is definitely wrong with your plumbing system. There may be a clog in a drain or a pipe, or sewage may be on the verge of backing up. Whatever the case may be, a professional Levittown, NY sewer cleaning professional will alleviate the problem and ensure that your system is functioning properly, preventing a potentially destructive and toxic overflow.

Overflowing Toilets and Drains

The drains and toilets will occasionally become clogged. In these situations, a plunger or a drain cleaner can usually resolve the issue if excessive toilet paper or large food particles are flushed, causing clogs. It’s normal to have occasional blockages, but regular clogging – especially if it causes overflowing – isn’t. You definitely need to fix your toilets and drains if they clog up easily or start backing up. Large obstructions, like feminine hygiene products, cotton swabs, large wads of toilet paper, or even a child’s toy or tree root intrusions could be the cause. Whatever the case, calling in a Levittown, NY sewer cleaning professional is a must. A licensed and experienced technician will be able to identify and eliminate the clog, restore the proper functioning of your drains, and prevent further and more severe problems.

Multiple Clogs

You should contact a sewer cleaning company as soon as possible if several sinks, showers, tubs, toilets, or even your washing machine are clogging up. Clogs may occur in main sewer lines or main drainage lines. If that’s the case, it’s more than just a nuisance; it’s a major problem. These lines can be blocked, causing larger, more hazardous problems and more costly repairs. A drainage cleaning professional will be able to detect and properly correct the issue, restoring the function of your drains and preventing more serious issues from occurring.

Levittown is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. It is located halfway between the villages of Hempstead and Farmingdale. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a total population of 51,881, making it the most populated CDP in Nassau County and the second most populated CDP on Long Island, behind only Brentwood.

The building firm, Levitt & Sons, headed by Abraham Levitt and his two sons, William and Alfred, built four planned communities called “Levittown”, in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Puerto Rico; the Levittown in New York was the first. Additionally, Levitt & Sons’ designs are featured prominently in the older portion of Buffalo Grove, Illinois; Vernon Hills, Illinois; Willingboro Township, New Jersey; the Belair section of Bowie, Maryland; and the Greenbriar section of Fairfax, Virginia.

The Levitt firm began before World War II, as a builder of custom homes in upper middle-class communities on Long Island. During the war, however, the home building industry languished under a general embargo on private use of scarce raw materials. William “Bill” Levitt served in the Navy in the Seabees – the service’s construction battalions – and developed expertise in the mass-produced building of military housing using uniform and interchangeable parts. He was insistent that a postwar building boom would require similar mass-produced housing, and was able to purchase options on large swaths of onion and potato fields in undeveloped sections of Long Island.

Returning to the firm after war’s end, Bill Levitt persuaded his father and brother to embrace the utilitarian system of construction he had learned in the Navy. With his brother, Alfred, who was an architect, he designed a small one-floor house with an unfinished “expansion attic” that could be rapidly constructed and as rapidly rented to returning GIs and their young families. Levitt & Sons built the community with an eye towards speed, efficiency, and cost-effective construction; these methods led to a production rate of 30 houses a day by July 1948.They used pre-cut lumber and nails shipped from their own factories in Blue Lake, California, and built on concrete slabs, as they had done in a previous planned community in Norfolk, Virginia. This necessitated negotiating a change in the building code, which prior to the building of this community, did not permit concrete slabs. Given the urgent need for housing in the region, the town agreed. Levitt & Sons also controversially utilized non-union contractors in the project, a move which provoked picket lines. On the other hand, they paid their workers very well and offered all kinds of incentives that allowed them to earn extra money, so that they often could earn twice as much a week as elsewhere. The company also cut out middlemen and purchased many items, including lumber and televisions, directly from manufacturers. The building of every house was reduced to 26 steps, with sub-contractors responsible for each step. His mass production of thousands of houses at virtually the same time allowed Levitt to sell them, with kitchens fully stocked with modern appliances, and a television in the living room, for as little as $8,000 each (equal to $92,721 today), which, with the G.I. Bill and federal housing subsidies, reduced the up-front cost of a house to many buyers to around $400 (equal to $4,636 today).
